The Chesil Trust

Paralympian supports

The Chesil Trust Christmas appeal.

Helena LucasAn international sailor has given her support to a special Dorset charity, in the hope that more disabled young people will follow in her wake all the way to the Paralympic Games.

Helena Lucas, an athlete who represented Team GB in the single-handed 2.4mR sailing in Qingdao at the 2008 Paralympic Games, visited the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy last week, and Helena took time out to lend her support to The Chesil Trust’s Christmas appeal.

The Chesil Trust, the local charity for Dorset children and young people, gives disabled and disadvantaged youngsters from across the county the chance to learn sailing skills, increasing their teamwork, practical skills, leadership and responsibility.

The Christmas appeal brings the concept of ethical Christmas gifts closer to home, offering the chance to buy a gift that pays for one young person to undertake a special sailing training session. The purchaser gets an attractive Christmas card and fridge magnet to keep or to send to their friend or relative as a long-lasting reminder of the good work their gift has funded.

Send a cheque for £25 made out to The Chesil Trust, to TCT Christmas Appeal, Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, Osprey Quay, Portland, DT5 1SA. Packs are also on now on sale at the Tourist Information Offices in Weymouth, Dorchester, Bridport, Lyme Regis, Shaftesbury, Blandford and Sherborne.

Help a Dorset child follow in Helena’s wake.
Donators will also receive a fridge magnet shown below or you buy one here.
